Do you take the grandparents on vacation with you?  With many little ones it’s nice to have extra hands to help out. Here are six tips for multigenerational travel.

   1. Buddy system - Match up one adult with a child for the day or for the morning or afternoon.  This one on one time is a great opportunity for bonding and making memories.

  2. Book room with pool - Let’s face it, some days children have unbelievable amounts of energy. Give all the adults a break while the children run around the pool.  A hotel with a great water park can make up for any bad day!

   3. Plan activities for every one - While the kiddos might not enjoy a museum that grandma and grandpa pick out, they might be surprised at how much they enjoy it with their grandparents.

   4. Plan activities apart -  Let the grandparents go somewhere alone with the kiddos while Mom & Dad have a night out or let the grandparents have a day out while Mom & Dad take the kiddos to the children’s museum. Give everyone a little time to themselves.

  5. Discuss budgeting ahead of time - Decide on how the hotel, dining and other expenses will be paid.  No one wants to feel obligated to spend according to someone else’s budget.

   6. You don’t have to think big - Disney isn’t the only answer. Multigenerational travel doesn’t have to break the bank.  A trip to a big city with plenty of museums, attractions, and activities can be just as satisfying.
